Our Global Development

The Club is renowned across the globe for developing talented young players for both Club and country.

Player Development Pathways

The Global Football Development Programme ensures a competitive environment to maximise the individuals’ potential. Working closely with both our Academy and Women’s Junior Talent Pathway, our programmes are designed with the aim to improve and support the individual progression of all players through the development levels and through our player pathways that are inspired by the Club’s player development framework.

Player development is at the heart of the Club and is a significant point of difference for us on and off the pitch. The Global Development team impact circa 45,000 players and coaches annually and demonstrates year-on-year growth. Technical sessions are delivered by our FA and UEFA-qualified coaches who take inspiration from our Men’s and Women’s First Team training methods to help develop every player that takes part on our programmes.

James Rowswell

Having first taken part in the Club’s Global Football Development Programme from the age of 6, James was a regular attendee to our Hertfordshire Player Development Programmes with his group of friends. James was talent identified and went on to our Academy Development Centres at Stevenage and Epping before being registered as an Academy player from 8 years old. James completed his incredible rise through the Academy age groups to the Premier League when, after a handful of appearances on the first team bench, he made his senior debut in our 1-1 draw at Liverpool in March, 2026.
